Simplify the transition to the new course with Back In Business

Back in Business is designed to make the move to the new specification easier, with clearly structured chapters directly based on the learning outcomes. The layout is clean and uncluttered, making content easier for teachers and students to follow, and ongoing support will be provided with additional resources and live online classes next year.

Printed Copies – June Release
I’ve chosen to wait until after the sample exam papers are released before finalising the book for print, so that I can make features like the 'Approaching the Exam' pages and the end-of-chapter questions reflect how the exam is going to be assessed. I will also be reviewing and amending any content based on the interpretation of the specification in the sample papers, to get my book as closely aligned to the new course as possible.

Once printed in June, books will be sent to teachers in schools who have listed it on their booklist, along with access codes for teacher and student digital platforms.

Ongoing Resource Support
I am on career break to do this and next year I won't be going back to teaching full-time so that I can focus on producing weekly resources for users of the book, including topical worksheets with research links (like the TY samples below), and videos and scaffolded resources for the project once the sample theme is released in September and the exam brief is announced.

If you didn’t receive a brochure, please email me and I’ll send one on. You’re also welcome to get in touch with any questions.

Thanks, Gavin

Why you should choose Back In Business

Embedded Research skills

Embedded in chapters are 'Reflect & Research' activities based on the key principles for research. Each chapter will have a research worksheet (samples below to trial in TY this year) and I'll add more on a continuous basis.

Real-world relevance

Bright and engaging case studies and exclusive interviews with top Irish businesses and social enterprises paired with worksheets and activities - these are designed to develop student's critical research skills for the project.

Approaching the exam sections

Suggested sample questions and answers based on outcome verbs from the specification - these will be refined after the sample exam papers are released so they reflect the new exam format and structure.

Exclusive digital platform for both teacher and student with ongoing digital support

I will provide ongoing up to date resources on the teacher and student digital platforms including live classes - click here to see teacher samples and click here for student samples.

Textbook features & Samples

Clear & easy to use layout

Back In Business is designed to be very user friendly with uncluttered, easy to access content clearly laid out for each learning outcome.

I've added in helpful infographics for certain topics to help students, as well as learning links to different chapters and a review and research feature for students to work on during class.

Approaching The Exam Section

I break down the different action verbs and apply them to different chapters to try to give a greater understanding of what approach is needed for different types of questions in the exam.

I will be updating the book after the sample papers are released in April so that these sections can mirror those papers.
